XAUUSD Pips and Points Explained: What '+300 Pips' Really Means
"+300 pips!" sounds huge – but on gold it can mean $3 or $30 depending on who is counting.
Why gold pips are confusing
Gold is quoted with two decimals (for example 4052.37). Some channels call $0.01 a point and $0.10 a pip; others call $1 a pip. So the same $3 move can be reported as 30 pips or 300 points.
The honest unit: dollars of price
The clearest way to report a gold result is the move in the gold price: "+$4.50". Then convert to money with your lot size: at 0.1 lot, +$4.50 in price ≈ +$45.
Compare channels on the same scale
- Convert every result to dollars of price.
- Include the losses, not just the TPs.
- Use the same lot size for everyone.
That is why LDRSIGNAL reports every channel in price points and in dollars at a fixed 0.1 lot – no pip inflation.
